GSU Tradition: Sweetheart Circle Walk

On Thursday, Cory and I finally completed a Georgia Southern tradition we've been looking forward to for some time.

According to legend, if you walk around Sweetheart Circle holding hands with your sweetheart three times, you're destined to be married. How romantic!

I had always imagined we would do the walk prior to the engagement, but since when do we follow rules? Cory had asked me to take walks with him around the Circle before, but I always thought he was joking. I never knew he was honestly trying to get me to do the legendary walk! (I don't take hints well).

On Thursday we were taking a walk around the RAC track for some exercise when he suggested finally doing our walk around the Circle. First mistake.

We got to Sweetheart, and he decided to take his sling off so that we could comfortably hold hands. Second mistake.

We started off the seemingly easy, romantic walk. Roughly half-way through our first lap, we started to realize what we'd gotten ourselves into. His shoulder was aching, but he refused to let go. Our legs were sore from walking earlier on. Our palms were disgustingly sweaty. How romantic...!?

As we neared the end, we laughed about what a mess this was. It was so fitting. We get into the silliest circumstances, but we always end up having a blast.

We reached the big GSU sign where we started, stopped for a selfie (obviously), and headed straight for Burger King.

& That's the story of our legendary walk. ;)
