Gift bags and goodies for guests

Something I learned (the week of our wedding) is that etiquette calls for some sort of goody bag for out-of-town guests... YIKES!

Had we not been anticipating 100+ out-of-town guests originally, this wouldn't have been such a cause for panic. However, we made the most of it, and I've put together some resources to help you create an guest bag that's quick, easy and personal!

First of all, check with your city's visitor's center. Our Statesboro center offered a FREE service for goody bags and resources for wedding planning! Not only did they help us block off hotel rooms for our guests, but they also put together 100+ FREE bags full of information about the city we were to be married in! Y'all know my slogan, "If it's free it's for me!" Not every visitor's center may offer this service, but it sure can't help to ask!

Since they provided the bags (and maps of the city, things to do, a community calendar, and the city magazine), we just needed to add the personal touches to each bag!

Here's what ours included:

-Map of the city

-List of things to do

-Water bottle (jet-lagged guests don't want to spend another $4 on a hotel water bottle when they land!)

-His/Hers snacks

-Thank you note

Simple, easy and cute!

To jazz up the water bottles, I created some labels in PowerPoint that matched our Zazzle invitations and other wedding paper products. They said "Thank you for joining us! www.AubreyAndCory.com."

I printed out a bunch, and my sister and wonderful husband sat on the floor for 2+ hours cutting them out and taping them to 100+ bottles! Yay!

I highly suggest printing some test copies to make sure they fit the bottles you buy! They all vary slightly in size, and you'll want enough overlap to tape!

Not only did I anticipate my guests being thirsty, but I also figured (if they're anything like me) they might be a little hungry after traveling too! I picked Cory's favorite (Oreos) and my favorite (trail mix) snacks and put them in separate ziplock snack bags, "His Favorite," and "Her Favorite." This gave guests a personal touch of what he and I both liked as well as a sweet/salty snack for that evening!

I used the same design to create his/her labels in PPT and printed them on sticker paper.

We printed some little "thank you notes," to add to each bag, and then we called it a day! We boxed them up and delivered them to the hotel front desks so that anyone in our reservation block was greeted with a bag. Some hotels will even place them in the rooms for your guests.

We also brought some extras to the rehearsal dinner for those who came late or were staying outside of those hotels.

The point of a guest goody bag is just to show your loved ones your appreciation for traveling just for your big day! It means SO MUCH that people took time from their lives- work, school, vacation, to celebrate with us, so it's a nice treat to just offer them a little something. I wish we had planned on this sooner, but it worked nonetheless! In fact, we had leftovers!

So...if anyone wants some Oreos and maps... holla!
