A few weeks ago, a family friend, Mr. Gene Slivka, invited us to his plantation home in Green Pond, South Carolina for a cocktail party in our honor. Cory and I had never been to the home, but we'd heard it was something out of a fairy tale.
It was.

After buying a last-minute cocktail dress the morning of the event, pre-gaming with some McDonalds (just in case I didn't like the "fancy people" food) and trying to change outfits in the car, Cory and I finally turned down a long dirt road along a pond. We were greeted by some friendly, smelly bison and beautiful, SCREAMING peacocks.
It was surreal. So strange!
When we arrived at the home, we had the chance to explore rooms upon rooms of HISTORY. Everything from withered books to stained glass from European cathedrals covered each wall. It really felt like I was at a different version of the Biltmore, except this time people actually let me into the rooms.

We ate DELICIOUS food, got eaten up by swamp mosquitoes, played with some adorable children, and got to spend the evening with some of our favorite people in the world. The party was so intimate and lovely. We couldn't have asked for a nicer time! We really cannot wait to go back and explore the plantation in full. I'm still not quite over it!
Fast-forward through Cory's finals week, my work BFF leaving, a yard sale and more wedding stress, and we've arrived at my weekend of showers!
Cory's mother and sister-in-law (also my Mary Kay Director) came down with the kiddos on Friday to get ready for shower weekend. I had the privilege of watching "Secret Life of Pets" for the 39th time (not even being sarcastic here. I love that movie.) and snuggling some sweet babies! We woke up early the next morning; I cooked a hearty Eggo breakfast, and Kelly got to work on my wedding makeup (which was fab, by the way!). Then we made our way to St. Simons!

My Memaw hosted this shower, and when I tell you it was BEAUTIFUL, I mean it! Everything was so Aubrey. There were Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets, (obviously), mimosas, flowers and decorations. So many friends and relatives came out to celebrate. I was SO excited!
We played a really funny shower game (turns out I'm pretty indecisive, and everyone knows it), downed some mimosas and opened LOTS of presents. Seriously. Get married, you get SO many thoughtful gifts. It's like Christmas, except everyone just watches YOU open gifts. #Humble
{Just kidding, teehee}
Seriously though, Cory and I are now fully stocked on everything we could have asked for and then some! We are unbelievably grateful!
That evening, I got to spend time with my family and my childhood friend Amanda who was in town! Literally never a dull moment with them!
The next day, mom and I headed to Rincon, Georgia for a second shower! Cory's grandma Millie hosted this adorable shower, and once again, we had a blast! I got to meet so many of Cory's relatives that I'd only known through our guest list and family stories. Once again, we were showered with gifts, gifts, gifts! I don't even know how to use most of the kitchen appliances, but you bet I'll be whippin up more than cereal in the near future! Again, so grateful!

Cory arrived toward the end of the bridal shower, and we got to spend the evening relaxing with his family. I passed out shortly into the evening; bridal showering is hard! But we still had a great time with everyone.
Now we're almost caught up.
Ah yes, Cory's bachelor party was this weekend. I'll let him share those stories... if he chooses ;)
All I can say on behalf of both of us is that we've got some pretty AMAZING people in our lives. For real.
We're approaching the big day quicker than I'm comfortable with, but it's coming either way! Let the stress continue and the countdown commence! We're definitely in it for the long Hall; we're committed now! ;)
xoxo
